Daniel is a mediator and city litigation partner with over 20 years’ experience working with businesses and individuals facing complex disputes. A KC in a recent mediation described him as “an extremely talented mediator with a fresh and sophisticated approach to the process”, who combines “technical knowledge and legal expertise” with “high levels of emotional intelligence and tenacity”, and helps parties identify “the real levers which might enable them to settle.” He mediates the full range of commercial and civil disputes including:
Professional negligence claims
Contractual disputes
Shareholder and director disputes
Banking disputes
Fraud and asset recovery
Breach of trust and breach of confidence
Insolvency disputes
Insurance disputes
Inheritance disputes
Daniel was part of the founding team that launched the commercial litigation department at Stewarts in 2009. Stewarts quickly grew into the UK’s leading litigation-only firm, and he became a partner there in 2013. In 2017, he established a new commercial litigation department at Jury O’Shea.
As a lawyer, he has been described in the Legal 500 as “seriously impressive. A very bright lawyer with excellent commercial nous…”, “a very calm presence” and “a true star”.
Daniel also volunteers as a community mediator with Mediation Plus where he mediates neighbour and inter-generational disputes, many of them police-referred.
“Daniel is an extremely talented mediator with a fresh and sophisticated approach to the process. He believes in the power of mediation, and is able to communicate that enthusiasm even to deeply entrenched parties. He is unusually well placed to combine technical knowledge and legal expertise, as a litigator of some 20 years, with high levels of emotional intelligence and tenacity. He understands what he is dealing with and does not underestimate the challenges. He comes fully prepared, takes the time to understand the detail of complex disputes, whilst moving beyond the detail and helping the parties to find the real levers which might enable them to settle. He is prepared to have candid conversations which empower parties to see the issues in a new light. I thoroughly recommend him.” Lucy Colter KC
